Preparing your quilt top-Tips for best results:
- Inspect all seams to ensure they are secure and will not come undone.
- Press the quilt top thoroughly to ensure it is as flat as possible.
- Clip all loose threads, especially dark thread on light-colored fabrics, as they can show through the top and be difficult to remove after quilting.
- Ensure your quilt top is square and free of any extra bulk or fullness that could cause issues during quilting.
- For best results, quilts with bias edges or pieced borders should be stay stitched with a 1/8 seam allowance along the perimeter to prevent stretching.
- The backing fabric and batting should be 6 inches larger than the quilt top on all sides.
- Press the backing fabric to remove wrinkles, and if it is pieced, use a ½-inch seam and press it open. Remove selvages from the pieced backing.
